Portrait Painting Masterclass with Andrew James

Join The New School of Art for a two-day intensive Portrait Painting Masterclass with renowned artist Andrew James RP NEAC, member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the New English Art Club.

Designed to be both engrossing and inspiring, this weekend course explores the fundamentals of creating a meaningful, expressive portrait. Working directly from a live model in Emerson College’s light-filled studio in Forest Row, participants will be guided through both technical and theoretical approaches to portraiture.

The masterclass includes:

• Day 1: Drawing in pencil and charcoal
• Day 2: A full day of oil painting
• Live demonstration by Andrew from the model
• Personal guidance and critique throughout

This is an exceptional opportunity to learn from a highly regarded practising artist and deepen your skills, whether you are an emerging painter or more experienced in your practice.

Andrew James RP NEAC

Andrew James is an internationally respected portrait painter based in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. With an impressive career spanning prestigious commissions and award-winning work — including the Carroll Foundation Award (1998) — Andrew has served as Vice President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and is an active member of The New English Art Club.
