In late 2023 we were delighted to open our very own café here at Emerson. The café is an extension of Pixton Manor house situated in the in the former music room, and adjacent to the old billiard room, which is now a dining area catering for visitors.
Open seven days a week, the café is open from 8:30am till 4pm every day, offering an organic selection of coffee and light refreshments. A wide range of teas and coffees is available with a selection of dairy and alternative milks. Almost everything available at the café is either made in house or sourced locally including a range of cakes (with vegan and gluten free options), bliss balls and other snacks, whilst the organic pastries are supplied by Sussex Kitchen.
The café serves the needs of the variety events and trainings that happen out of Emerson linked to individual and group self and social development wellbeing. In addition, it is open to the public, serving as a social hub to connect with friends, stop for a drink whilst on walks, as well as a peaceful working space with free WiFi.
The lounge is calm and invites a warming natural light in the afternoons. Decorated with Richard Heys’ paintings (available to purchase), which complement the atmospheric space. Outside there is a large patio area where visitors can enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the biodynamic and botanical gardens at Emerson. Dogs aren’t permitted inside the café but are welcome on the patio.
As the café develops, we look towards hosting talks and small gatherings for live music and events. Thursday afternoons there is currently a ‘Make and Mend’ session for an opportunity to stich something old or knit something new. Bring your own materials and get crafty within a friendly group of folks.
The café is open to requests to hire the space for late afternoons / evenings, please do get in touch with events@emerson.org.uk if you have an idea for a small event, gatherings or meetings, up to 25 people, who would benefit from the service of hot drinks and light refreshments.
