Postgraduate Diploma in Waldorf Education with PGCE and QTS relocates to Emerson College
We are delighted to announce that the Postgraduate Diploma in Waldorf Education with PGCE and QTS, validated by the University of Buckingham relocates from York Steiner School to Emerson College UK with effect from October 2024.
This first-of-its-kind programme is an accredited and validated teaching qualification which integrates practical and academic learning about Waldorf pedagogy and practice with a PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – an internationally recognised UK teaching qualification.
The part-time, apprenticeship-style, graduate teacher training course is aimed at employees or volunteers in a Waldorf school, where they can benefit from observation, mentoring and practice in the classroom from the very start.
This master’s level programme also offers the opportunity to achieve an MA in Waldorf Education by completing a master’s dissertation.
York Steiner School played a crucial role in the development and success of this Programme that started with its first cohort in January 2024. The entire team at Emerson College expresses its deep gratitude to York Steiner School for their dedication, support, and hard work in fostering the growth of the course and shaping future Waldorf educators. The transition to Emerson College represents an exciting new chapter for the course, offering students the opportunity to study in an environment that aligns deeply with the values and principles of Waldorf education. The course will continue to offer the same curriculum, expert guidance, and personal support, ensuring that students receive the highest level of training as they pursue their teaching qualifications.
Damian Mooncie, CEO of Emerson College, shared his thoughts on this exciting development:
“We are honoured to welcome the Postgraduate Diploma in Waldorf Education to Emerson College. York Steiner School has done incredible work over the years, and we are committed to building on that legacy. At Emerson, we believe that this program will thrive in our nurturing and holistic environment, and we are excited to support future Waldorf educators in their journey.”
Fiona Sharpe, Course Director, also expressed her excitement about the move:
“Working with York Steiner School has been foundational for this programme, and we are immensely grateful for the collaboration and support they’ve provided. Moving to Emerson College presents a wonderful opportunity to deepen the learning experience for our students, while maintaining the same high standards of education and support. I look forward to continuing to lead this program in a setting that truly reflects the heart of Waldorf education.”
