Shiva and Dionysos are the Gods of love and ecstasy with deep links to the natural world across two great mythic traditions – Indian and Greek, East and West. Their power is like a great river rumbling in the distance, so far away we pay no attention until suddenly the river floods and its waters, like a tsunami, reach our home and sweep everything before it; nothing is left standing, nothing is the way it was before.
The notion that nature exists merely to be in the service of the human race with no thought to the consequences for the more-than-human beings and for the Earth itself has led us to where we are today. It is time to reconnect once more to these Gods. To allow ourselves to face our destructive potential – its shadow side and its necessity to allow rebirth. To experience the embodied joy, ecstasy and love that being swept away by the energies of these two Gods can give us. It is time to identify and disregard those social norms and human laws in order to rediscover divine laws and reconnect to our humanity, to all beings and to the Earth. What is these Gods’ call to Joy in communion with Nature and simplicity of heart?
Through stories, discussions and games, we will explore the multifaceted energies of the two Gods within the two mythic traditions. We will see how these energies meet as well as their distinct nature. And above all, we will look at their relevance for ourselves and in the times we live in.
No storytelling experience is necessary for this workshop.
