4 weekends of in-depth exploration of storytelling, voice, movement, connection, improvisation, authenticity and presence: with Roi Gal-or.

A storyteller is more than a teller of tales; from the dawn of time, storytellers have been the teachers and guides, the entertainers, advocates of change and healers of humanity.

In this part-time course over 4 weekends, we will explore the Art and Craft of the storyteller, working on story structure, voice, gesture, movement, connection and audience awareness, spontaneity and improvisation, authenticity and presence.

In a playful, supportive and encouraging environment we will discover the depth and richness of the oral tradition, how to build a repertoire as a storyteller, and how the art of storytelling can transform our own lives and the communities around us. We will be focusing each weekend on a different type of story and learn various techniques and skills needed to tell it.

The course will include opportunities to share and perform stories together and alone and receive professional storytelling coaching in front of the whole group.

“I feel blessed to have been part of The Craft of the Storyteller over four weekends this autumn where we dived deeply into folktales, wonder tales, myths, and personal projects and many songs and exercises besides. Roi is a rare gift of a person and a teacher. He embodies so many good qualities it is hard to imagine them all in one being: kindness, compassion, conviction, humour, warmth, fascination, playful mischief, creativity and great generosity of spirit. Roi has encouraged every one of us in this journey and expertly facilitates the group experience. I cannot recommend him highly enough. (Jen Ray – 2021 participant )

“I found the course to be the most wonderful opportunity to explore the ways that I thought I might like to work with stories and many that I hadn’t thought of. Roi’s teaching was always tailored not only to the individual’s needs but also tuned in to our personal interests and styles- helping us to develop in the way we wanted to. “ ( Mary Honeybone – 2021  participant )
